During track and switch tamping, the rails are gripped by adjustable hooks or lifting rollers at the rail base or head and are thus lifted and straightened.
The lifting tool assistant automatically selects and controls the lifting roller clamp or lifting hook, along with the optimal grip position. A lidar scanner measures the area around the lifting position in front of the lifting lining unit and thereof calculates the possible points of grip. At the same time the lifting roller clamp is used preferentially. Furthermore, the exact sleeper positions used to control the fully automatic tamping are known from this data. What a practical tool!
