Intelligent Tamping - The Revolution in Track Maintainance
Full-Hydraulic Drive
System7 has revolutionised tamping with excavators by integrating its full hydraulic tamping drive technology from the S7 tamping machine into an excavator tamping attachment.
Intelligent Tamping
The squeezing cylinders of the tamping banks are equipped with integrated position and pressure sensors. This enables a constant measurement of the ballast hardness. The amplitude and frequency are variable and controlled automatically. There is only vibration during insertion and compacting. Whilst tamping, the frequency of 35 Hz at the tamping drive is kept constant.
OPTIMAL COMPACTION
As with system7’s self-propelled tamping machines, the pressure-sensor-based control system in the auxiliary cylinder of the mounted tamping unit ensures optimal compaction of the ballast.
Automated Tamping Circles
An automated tamping cycle can be selected after pre-selecting the desired squeezing time, penetration depth and number of immersions per tamping cycle. After correct positioning of the tamping unit pressing the start button on the remote control starts the automatic tamping cycle. The penetration process, tamping and raising to rest position are then carried out fully automatically.
HIGH WEAR REDUCTION
Thanks to the fully hydraulic tamping drive, there are no rotating drive components. The tamping drive vibrates only during penetration into the ballast and during tamping—the rest of the time it remains stationary. The result is a reduction in maintenance costs compared to conventional tamping units.
Significant NOISE AND DUST REDUCTION
- Noise reduction of more than -7 dB per ramming cycle and more than 50% fewer fine dust emissions
- Fewer wear parts – no rotating components or roller bearings in the S7 ramming drive
- Significant reduction in lifecycle costs and easy maintenance compared to conventional ramming technology
Full SWITCH COMPATIBILITY
The opening width of the tamping banks is variable and is also suitable to tamp double sleepers. Beside simultaneous operation each tamping bank can be independently controlled and hydraulically slides out for working in switches.
Quick GAUGE ADJUSTMENT
The wheels can be configured at the factory for all standard gauges without any additional effort.
IDEAL FOR SPOT REPAIR
Developed to close the gap between large and small maintenance works. For spot tamping the tamping head attached is ideal and prevents the costs of a dedicated tamping machine. The system7 tamping head attachment delivers the technical advantages of fully hydraulic tamping for nearly all excavator models.
RAIL CLAMPS
The rail clamps securely hold the unit in place during operation and prevent it from lifting off the rail during the tamping process.
Four clamps that can move horizontally and vertically are lowered before tamping begins and closed against the rail head – or alternatively, the rail foot. Lowering and closing occur independently of one another, enabling precise, secure positioning of the unit.
ONE-PERSON OPERATION
WITH POSITIONING AID
The tablet upgrade for the mounted tamping unit optimizes workflow with an integrated video camera that transmits the tamping area in real time via Wi-Fi.
Virtually superimposed reference points support precise alignment, while the camera image enables efficient one-person operation without the need for an additional assistant. The combination of live video and visual guidance increases productivity and ensures ergonomic, time-saving work processes.
BALLAST BED ANALYSIS WITH SYSTEM7
INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT WEB PLATFORM "INFRAME"
Each individual tamping cylinder is controlled independently and records data on the achieved ballast compaction, the ballast bed hardness, and the tamping stroke. From this, the ballast bed quality index is derived. The information is automatically transmitted, along with GPS coordinates and a photo of the sleeper’s surroundings, to the web platform “INFRAME”, where the tamping operation is displayed on a map.
Remote Maintenance and Service
All system7 products are designed for remote support, remote maintenance, and remote diagnostics. Spare parts can be easily located and ordered via the 3D online spare parts catalog.
